It is almost literally at the very heart of Spain. The country’s currency is Euro. Spain is mostly of Catholic or Christian religion. Many different nationalities have come to Spain and are thriving here. This colorful country is bordered by Portugal and France on two sides while on the other two sides are the Mediterranean and Atlantic.

The people in Spain mainly speak Spanish. Other European tongues are also used around the country. It is best to familiarize oneself with a Spanish dictionary to learn several key phrases or words before setting out to explore the country. This is to avoid getting lost or misunderstood. Better yet, bring along a Spanish translator or guide. This person can help communicate with the locals and point out historical and cultural references.

A guide can also give the Spanish translation of the signage around the country. It is best to research before hand where to get the services of a Spanish translator. Another option is to ask your reputable hotel for a Spanish translator or where to hire the services of one. Most hotels have maps or Spanish dictionaries for sale in their lobbies. It is also a good idea to bring a Spanish English dictionary when learning the language so you can communicate with people when a Spanish translator is absent.

It is recommended to visit the Prado Museum in Madrid and the famous Royal Monastery of El Escorial where one can find The Mausoleum of the Spanish Monarchs. In the tourist attractions, one can see the heritage and culture of the Spaniards. It is best to bring along a Spanish-English dictionary and map when touring since some attractions or tour are in the urban areas.

In most four to five star hotels and reputable restaurants, one need not worry about Spanish translation. Most of the employees and workers of such places can speak and understand English. An alternative to restaurants is the tapas bars, which can be found in Barrio Santa Cruz. Some establishments write their menus in Spanish with English translation underneath.
